Nervous About Joining a Gym? Your First Visit to Ignite Explained
You’ve thought about joining. Perhaps you’ve looked through the photos. But walking through the door still feels like the hardest part.
That is a good reason to start with a visit.
At Ignite, our boutique gym in Cuffley, you can arrange a guided tour, meet the team and ask questions before deciding what comes next.

Start with a hello Tell us if you’re new to the gym or returning after time away.
You don’t need to know the names of the machines or arrive with a training plan. Knowing what you would like from exercise is enough—even if that is simply feeling stronger, having more energy or taking some time for yourself.
See the space before your first workout A tour helps you become familiar with the gym, studios and changing facilities.
Ask where to start, how class bookings work and what support is available. If you’re worried about anything, say so. A conversation can take much of the uncertainty out of joining.
What should you bring? For a gym workout, comfortable exercise clothing, suitable trainers and a water bottle are a sensible starting point.
Our towel service is included in memberships, giving you one less thing to pack. If you’re attending a particular class, check its requirements beforehand.
Keep your first session simple Ask about an induction before using unfamiliar equipment. Learn how to adjust it and choose a session you feel comfortable repeating.
Your first visit can be short. Becoming familiar with the space is progress in itself.
If an injury or health condition affects your exercise, mention it when discussing a suitable starting point.
Choose classes with guidance A class can give your visit structure and help you meet familiar faces.
Ask the team which sessions suit your experience, then let the instructor know it’s your first time. You can learn gradually and build confidence as you go.
